TGA bangs the drum for music education

TGAT’s Temple Grove Academy (TGA) has been recognised for its commitment to high quality music teaching.

TGA has been awarded Music Mark status after providing evidence of the development of a high standard of music provision, as well as recognising the value of music education as part of a broad and balanced curriculum.

Music Mark works to lead high-quality music education by influencing, supporting and connecting teachers of music within schools. TGA was also recognised for having a strategy in place which provides music education for all children.

As well as the more traditional activities such as singing and weekly piano lessons, children have also tried beat boxing, taken part in whole class ukulele lessons with each child playing their own instrument, and experienced a samba drumming workshop.

“We believe in offering pupils a wide variety of experiences so they have also heard live orchestral music at a Kidenza event – classical concerts designed especially for children and schools. We have a TGA choir which took part in a Young Voices concert at the O2, performing with thousands of other children as a single choir to a sold-out audience of family and friends.”

TGA will now be granted access to exclusive resources created by Music Mark for schools. This will include both practical resources and highlights from the latest research.
